Daniel Garant, AAS, Appraisal Manager Residential Division, Maricopa County Assessor’s office
Dan started his career by following his father in the newspaper business and worked for the Phoenix Gazette/Arizona Republic Newspaper out of college in the circulation department. There he started as a part-time service driver and eventually working his way to a District Service Manager when he decided to make a career change in 2000. At the advice of one of his friends, Dan entered the wonderful world of residential appraisal by taking residential appraisal courses and the Arizona State School of Real Estate and Business in early 2000. Dan worked with his friend in his appraisal shop until the real estate crash in 2007 where he went to work with the Maricopa County Assessor’s office as a residential appraiser. After 6 years of being in the residential division, Dan’s curiosity led him to work in the commercial division where he was exposed to commercial real estate valuations of stadiums, shopping centers, shopping malls, office buildings, and apartment complexes. Through is hard work and dedication to his office, colleagues, and the citizens of Maricopa County his career path has led him into his current position as Appraisal Manager for the Residential Division.

Jennifer Rearich, MAS, CAE, RES, Business Analytics & CAMA Supervisor, Maricopa County Assessor’s Office
Jennifer entered the assessment world 12 years ago as a field appraiser and quickly moved into the valuation modeling team after a year. Today she oversees two key processes in the Maricopa County property tax system: valuation modeling and abstracts/levy reporting to taxing districts. She is involved in the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO) Community, where she is currently serving as chair of the 2024 Research and Standards Committee. Additionally, she has presented on model deployment, data quality, mass appraisal valuation methodologies, and property tax policy, at IAAO Conferences as well as symposiums hosted by the Lincoln Institute for Land Policy, in addition to being published on some of the aforementioned topics in the Journal of Property Tax Assessment and Administration (JPTAA). In 2019, she received the IAAO Emerging Professional Award. Previously a student of urban planning, she holds a BS from Arizona State University, an MPhil from the University of Cambridge, and is a graduate of Class 5 of ASU’s Alumni Leadership Institute.
